I have seen this film before but watched it again after a year and enjoyed it even more. It was really interesting to watch the film in the context of social situation. I had really just thought of it as life lessons learned and the cruel unfairness of the world manifest. Those things are still true I think but coming from a poor background myself I could also relate the desperation in the father to that of my mother at times. the value of the job was irreplaceable and without it all seemed hopeless. I think this is expressed at an extreme in the film, maybe for the sole purpose of showing what people may be willing to sacrifice for a steady job. His reputation
